Council Collection Days and the 7am Rule in Knightsbridge

Bulky collections run to a schedule, and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea collects Monday to Saturday between 7am and 3pm, closing on Sundays and bank holidays.

Westminster City Council aims to complete bulky collections within three working days, so its residents usually have a shorter wait between booking and pickup.

Items must be presented by 7am on collection day. RBKC is explicit that late presentation is non-refundable, which means an item still inside at breakfast time can lead to a wasted collection and a lost charge.

For a concierge building, that timing is often the concierge team's job to manage, so it is worth agreeing the night before who will put items out.

Because RBKC is closed on Sundays and bank holidays, a collection booked around a long weekend can shift. Planning items for the days either side of a bank holiday avoids disappointment.

Westminster's three-working-day target also excludes non-working days, so the same caution applies across the boundary.
